Some know me as an entrepreneur, author, and blogger; others know me as the guy who is crazy enough to do the things I do. However you came about this page, I’m excited you’re here.
Welcome to Broke Bloke Blogs. If you are new here, I’m glad you visited! I have hundreds of regular readers and brand new readers every day. I’d love to make your experience here as comfortable as possible.
The decision to become a blogger is not easy. But once you decide to build a passive income blog – you’re set. You can begin to design your life and live your dreams. You can set out to inspire the few, and teach them how to pursue their passion.
Born and brought up from one of the poorest slums in the city of Chennai. The slum clearance board provided cheap housing that cost $2/month, till we moved out in 2005. My parents worked hard to provide me with the best education one could get. My father often told me, my son: education is what will teach you about life and take you a long way. Anglo-Indian schools provided free education for anglos. This was the biggest advantage my parents had.
I cannot imagine where my life would be if I did not get the education and guidance of my mom and dad. Blogging might have been nothing but a dream. I’m glad that I had amazing teachers, parents and a loving sister. They have all been mentors, guides and played their roles best to help me get to where I am today. Growing up in a neighborhood like the one I did, is not easy. Life can be quite challenging; violence and abuse are common and is often overlooked.
Despite all my trials and tribulations, I managed to build a life as a young adult. I got myself a job at one of the largest companies in the world, Hewlett-Packard (HP). This is where I learned what it was to live in the real world. My life changed as I taught myself to be independent. I needed to defend myself and people are not always looking out for your best interest. Reality struck me, friends were more what one would call back-stabbers and ass-kissers. They wouldn’t hesitate to throw you under the bus if they knew there was something in it for them.
During this time at HP, I educated myself about various tools, technology and what not. I remembered what my father always told me, “my son, education will take you a long way in life”. During this time I stumbled upon blogging and heard about Darren Rowse. Is this guy for real? I asked myself reading his blog and learning about starting a blog myself. Starting a blog was expensive for a poor family that lived at $200 per month.
I convinced my dad that this was the real deal and I would make it big and make him proud. After months of deliberation, nagging and convincing my parents I got the approval. As children, we needed to get our parents approval before we pursued anything. Now that I got my fathers approval, it came down to the dollars required to get my domain and hosting.
I knew what I was going to write and had everything planned out. It was not easy to get $70+ where the family income was only about $200. Getting a hosting package and the extras were compulsory. I designed my own theme to save cash. After some research on the web, I taught myself how to negotiate a deal with my dad. I got my domain, set up the blog and I was off to an awesome start.
It took me quite sometime before my blog would pick to generate traffic and AdSense revenue. And my dad was both happy and surprised to see the man I had become. Someone who was both capable of building something valuable and profitable. I even brought in my sister in on blogging. Today, she blogs and has built a sustainable passive income.
I’ve come a long way since then. Made my fair share of mistakes along the way. This blog stems out to fix one of those mistakes I made. I was a spendthrift (that’s how I got the name Broke Bloke) and I was reckless with my finances. Broke Bloke blogs serve as a platform where I share my life experiences as a blogger. I teach values and principles that will help you sustain your career as a blogger.
Blogging is not only about writing and marketing. It’s about being productive, making time for family, and staying happy. With over $20,000 in debt its not easy to go through life without enough income. This blog is going to both help me pay off this massive debt, and live a life of comfort and blessings.
The blog will help you achieve financial freedom working 2-4 hours a day and earn a living from your blog. You will learn:

- marketing techniques
- sales models
- revenue generating opportunity

I’m a Metro-Man and an Author with MASSIVE dreams. I’m from sunny Chennai, South India. I love Coffee + Code + Books. When I’m not learning, I’m teaching [blogging]. I’ve been blogging to build a passive income; working 2-4 hours a day.
I’m 34 and work part-time from home since I lost my day job at one of the world’s largest technology company. That’s when I realized that I could make this blogging thing work.
